Free Ocoee Photos started with one simple idea: everyone who runs the Ocoee deserves to see themselves on the water — for free.
The Ocoee River in southeastern Tennessee is one of the most paddled whitewater rivers in the country. It hosted the 1996 Olympic whitewater events. Thousands of rafters and kayakers run it every season.
But for years, the only way to get a photo of your run was to pay a commercial outfit $30 for a single shot — or miss the moment entirely. We thought that was wrong. So we started shooting, and we started sharing.
Every photo on this site is free to download. No watermarks. No accounts. No catch. Just the Ocoee, the way it should be.
We're paddlers first, photographers second. We shoot because we love the river.
Founder & Lead Photographer
Marcus has been running the Ocoee since 2004. He started Free Ocoee Photos after one too many friends asked him to share his shots — and he realized there was no good way to do it.
Contributing Photographer
Jordan is a kayaker and photographer based in Chattanooga. She specializes in low-angle action shots from the water — the kind that make you feel the spray.
If you shoot the Ocoee and want your photos on this site, we'd love to hear from you. All skill levels welcome — we just care about authentic river shots.
